Applications Now Accepted to Fill City Council Vacancies
Applications are now being accepted to fill one (1) City of Vassar City Council vacancy due to the recent resignation of Council Members Daniel Stedry. The term for this seat will expire in November 2018. The individual who receive the appointment will need to run for election during the November 2018 election if they wish to continue to serve on the Council.
The deadline to submit an application is Monday, December 18th, 2017 at 4:30pm. Applications can be picked up and submitted with the City Clerk’s Office at Vassar City Hall, 287 E Huron Avenue. Applications can also be emailed to email@example.com. Depending on the number of applications received members of the Vassar City Council will interview applicants Tuesday, December 19th at 6:00pm. Appointment will be made at the January 9th Council Meeting.
To be eligible, a candidate must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age by January 9th, 2018, a resident of the City of Vassar for at least 2 years, and not be in default to the City. City Council Members receive a nominal stipend for service.
City Council Members are expected to attend City Council meetings, regularly scheduled on the first Monday of every month, starting at 7:00 pm. Special Meetings are also necessary. Meetings are held in the Council Chamber at the Vassar City Hall, at 287 E Huron Ave, Vassar, MI 48768.
